Lupe Fiasco has branded US president Barack Obama “a terrorist” during an interview with an American news channel. Speaking with CBS News, the Chicago-born rapper criticised Obama, claiming that the country’s stance towards terrorism is in fact “the root cause of terrorism” itself.

Florence & The Machine producer Paul Epworth has announced that the band should have their much-anticipated second studio album finished by “late July”. In an interview with BBC 6 Music the producer, who boasts Bloc Party’s ‘Silent Alarm’ and Adele’s ‘21’ among his production credits, claimed that the album will be “a little less indie and a little bit more soulful”.

Lebanese officials have chosen to reverse their decision to ban Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ from release in the country. Lebanese authorities originally made the decision to impound thousands of copies of the album due to the fact that the material on the LP was considered “offensive to Christianity”.

Justin Timberlake has claimed that he is more likely to plan another World tour than record a new album in the near future. Speaking to Vanity Fair, the singer and ‘Bad Teacher’ actor stated that his return to music would be more likely to occur as a live musician than as a recording artist.

Slam Dunk South was back this year, consuming the last bank holiday of May. This year celebrates 10 years of Slam Dunk, after starting as a club night in Leeds (where Slam Dunk North is held). It’s constantly expanding with smaller versions of the festival being brought to Bournemouth, Glasgow and Birmingham. After South’s inaugural year last year the layout problems have been ironed out and everything seems to run infinitely smoother. Not to say that there aren’t problems, Mayday Parade being the notable casualty as their set starts 15 minutes late due to problems with the guitarist’s never ending pedal board.

The director of Rihanna’s latest music video ‘Man Down’ has defended his work against critics who claim that the promo depicts unacceptable material for general viewing. Director Anthony Mandler, who has previously worked on videos including Usher’s ‘OMG’, Jay-Z’s ‘Run This Town’ and Rihanna’s ‘California King Bed’, claims that he created the video with the intention of casting “a light on the very dark subject matter”.

Last night, Wednesday 8th June, Bryan Adams opened Hampton Court Palace Festival to a packed audience for his only UK performance. With an acoustic guitar and accompanied by a grand piano, he performed songs from his critically acclaimed album Bare Bones, and treated the audience to old favourites in the historic setting of Base Court.
